Whitfield Cover Award Winner Announced

The winner of the first Whitfield Cover Award is....The Little Pot by Dawn Stevens. Dawn will receive a free autographed copy of Sin Creek, to be released later this year along with a printable Whitfield Cover Award decal. Thanks to all of you who voted and special thanks to all the wonderful authors who were guests since this blog's inception. The next contest will be with covers from guests appearing after April 17th through the end of 2010.

    My favorites are definitely The Pirate..., Pretty Is..., Edging Past Reality, and Dark Knowledge. If I had to choose one, it would be Dark Knowledge.

    The Little Pot wins the kids section for me. Simple and cute.

    For the others it was harder to decide. I'll vote for Dark Knowledge (powerful image that fits teh title nicely) but also very much liked Edging Toward Reality and Pretty Is as Pretty Dies.

    You have so many great covers here, it's difficult to select just one. Four caught my eye right away - Vernon and the Snake, secrets to Die For, Dead Witness, and Ghost Orchid. Hope it's okay to vote for two - Vernon for the kids section because it is playful and Ghost Orchid for adults because it's beautiful.

    I like a fairly clean look for a cover, so for the children's cover I'd pick "The Little Pot". For the adult's cover I'm torn between "Edging Past Reality" and "Dead Witness". I'm pulled toward the simplicity of the lone tree landscape. There's a deceptive calm about it that's appropriately eery. Yes, I think my vote goes to "Dead Witness". :)

    I think it's difficult to make a choice because of the different categories (at least it is for me). Thanks for the votes for Ghost Orchid; I'm still making my decision, influenced by the comments by others. I'd like to vote for one for adult and one for children.

    I'm voting for "The Pirate Who Lost His AARRR" in the children's section, and "No Where to Hide" in the adult.
    It was a difficult choice, because each cover has its own appeal, but "No Where to Hide" just looked sooo sinister:)

    Hi Susan,

    Picking a favorite was hard, but I vote for "The Devil Can Wait."
    The title and author names popped out at me as did the graphics. The cover was not cluttered.
