Whitfield Cover Award Voting Update

Those of you who follow my blog regularly know that I started a Whitfield Cover Award in June. The winner for the first half of the year was Dawn Stephens's cover for The Little Pot. She will be getting a Whitfield Cover Award decal and a free copy of my new book, Sin Creek, as soon as it's released.

Now it's time to pick another winner for the second half of 2010, and this winner will receive a copy of Sin Creek as well as a Whitfield Cover Award decal. I have been through all the blog posts since June and have tried to narrow the voting field. However, there are so many wonderful covers that I need your help. Please look through the covers (you can click on a cover to enlarge it) and leave your choice (only 1 vote, please) in the comments section. Voting will end on December 31st at midnight. Good luck to all nominees!

Today( December 29th) the following covers are finalists:

Good luck to all of you!
If you haven't voted, please leave your choice in the comments section.

Hi, Susan! I'm thrilled that Healey's Cave is up here - thank you. The artist, Ardy Scott, did it from scratch with a light pen. An amazing feat - it almost looks like a photograph of the woods/cave/stream, doesn't it? Anyway, I don't think it would be right to vote to myself, but I surely can vote for Ardy! Great selection of covers, they are lovely. ;o)

Thank you so much for nominating Towering Pines cover for this! I feel that the cover captures the mood of the book so very well!

Tough choice, but have to go with Cara Mia. :-)

It is wonderful to see Jerrod Brown's work of Dead Practices up there. He did such an amazing job capturing the true nature of my book.

Great group of covers. I love Bolt Action, but I'd be foolish not to vote for my own cover, Passions of the Dead.

After carefully looking thru all the nominations, I narrowed it down to two covers (Both which were painted with real paint... non-digital). My vote goes to 'Dead Practices'. A Horror Novel with an eloquent yet funny look about it. The cover itself draws me in and makes me want to read the book.

Thanks so much for including Hemlock Lake in your list. I'll have my fingers crossed for it.

I'm honored that Fire and Ash is listed. All the covers look great, but I'm gonna have to vote for Jenifer Ranieri's awesome work. She does a wonderful job on all her covers!

I really don't care for the covers that are just photos taken and retouched up. The paintings are more interesting. Some of the computer paintings are O.K., but if you play Guitar Hero, that doesn't mean you play a real guitar... meaning the 'real' artists get my vote. There are only a few if you narrow it down. I'll have to go with 'Dead Practices'. That artist plays a mean paint brush!!!

I like Towering Pines by Bruce Satre. I think its a great book!

I like the artwork on Dead Practices, the book written by Shells Walter. The artist for Dead Practices is Jerrod Brown. In fact, I like Jerrod Brown's work so much that I chose him as a featured artist in the upcoming January 2011 issue of The Horror Zine. Jerrod's work is unique and highly expressive in the horror genre. And no, I don't know Jerrod Brown personally; I just know good artwork.

Naturally I'll vote for my own, Absinthe of Malice. The cover was done by a guy living in Belgrade and I promised to send him a copy of the book months ago. Maybe this will get me off the dime. Wish I had time to notify all my internet friends to vote for me! Anyway, a great looking group of book covers. I enjoy browsing through them.

I was all ready to try to decide between two that seem to be getting most of the votes here, when I realized one of my authors has a book cover in the running. The cover was done by my husband, so for those two reasons I have to vote for it. My choice is Red Storm Regime (Vol. 1).
